About Us
Can You Hear Us? is Kaitlin, Liesel, and Zach Pflederer, a brother/sister trio from central Illinois. Can You Hear Us? has its roots in Durrës, Albania (where they spent the better part of their childhoods), when Kaitlin wrote “Old Man With The Roses” in response to a scene she saw unfold on the streets of Durrës. That was five years ago and 5,000 miles away, but little has changed about our songs. Each one is someone’s story, whether it is a child soldier, a prostituted 8 year-old, or a middle-class American couple who have left everything to go live in an actual garbage dump as missionaries. These stories usually go unheard. Can you hear them?
While many of the stories we sing are heartbreaking, they are still stories of hope. There are organizations such as Shared Hope International and International Justice Mission that are working hard to free sex slaves and help them adjust to a new way of life. Some people are leaving everything to live in a garbage city and bring new hope to the people that live there. Across the world, people are fighting for the ones who have fallen through the cracks, and 100% of the profits from our CDs will go toward supporting them. For more information about the organizations we support, check out the “We Support” page on this site!
